Community Creation Policy

The Community Creation Policy is the policy that new wikis on Fandom must follow. Fandom allows wikis on almost any topic; however, this policy outlines the topics that aren't allowed.

Content Guidelines & Requirements[edit | edit source]

This section of the Community Creation Policy outlines the content that wikis cannot have. Wikis will be closed if they fit any of the following:

  • They contain hate or libel.
  • They contain copyright infringement.
  • They have no content besides spam or vandalism.
  • They are only used for discussion, wiki-related or not.
  • They are used primarily or exclusively for images.
  • They are used only for in-game trading.
  • Their topic is political in nature.
  • They are focused on personal ideologies that would incite violence or discrimination.
  • Their main purpose is to create, discuss, or spread misinformation that threatens the health or safety of users or the public.
  • Their topic is related to pornography, even if the wiki has no explicit content.

Duplicate Wikis[edit | edit source]

This section of the Community Creation Policy focuses on duplicate wikis. Users are urged to join a wiki that has a topic they're interested in if it exists. The policy explains that multiple wikis on the same topic compete for editors and readers and create duplicate content, leading to tension within the fan base and lower search engine rankings for all involved wikis. Fandom staff may suggest that existing duplicates merge into one. The policy provides exceptions for wikis that cover the same topic, such as ones focusing on fan-created content or satire.
